An auxiliary ventilation system takes air from the flow-through system and distributes it to the mine workings via temporarily mounted ventilation fans, venturies and disposable fabric or steel ducting. Auxiliary fan and duct systems may be either forcing systems, where fresh air is pushed into mine headings, or exhausting systems that draw out contaminated air. Sufficient volume of air is required for proper ventilation. A bulk of electric power is required for driving fans. By installing variable speed control air quantity can be optimized hence the power. at every place in the mine where persons are required to work or pass, the air does not contain less than 19% of oxygen or more than 0.5% of carbon dioxide or any noxious gas in quantity likely to affect the health of any person; the percentage of inflammable gas does not exceed 0.75% in the general body of the return air of any ventilating district and 1.25% in any place in the mine. The volume (expressed in cubic feet per minute or cubic meters per second) of air required to ventilate an underground mine is determined by mining engineers based on a wide variety of parameters. In most countries minimum requirements are outlined by law, regulation or standards. However, in some developing countries the mandated ventilation requirement may be insufficient, and the mining company may have to increase the ventilation flow, in particular where ventilation may be required to cool the ambient temperature in a deep hot mine, however auto-compression must also be taken into account. as per CMR 130-2-(i) in every ventilating district, not less than six cubic metres per minute of air per personemployed in the district on the largest shift or not less than 2.5 cubic metres per minute of air per daily tonne output whichever is larger, passes along the last ventilation connection in the district which means the inbye-most gallery in the district along which the air passes. In temperate climates ventilation air may need to be heated during winter months. This will make the working environment more hospitable for miners, and prevent freezing of workings, in particular water pipes. In Arctic mines where the mining horizon is above the permafrost heating may not take place to prevent melting the permafrost. "Cold mines" such as Raglan Mine and Nanisivik Mine are designed to operate below 0°C. the wet bulb temperature in any working place does not exceed 33.5°C and where the wet bulb temperature exceeds 30.5°C arrangements are made to ventilate the same with a current of air moving at a speed of not less than one metre per second.

Step off the transit to hear some communications between Amanda and Ricardo. Your objective will soon update to Find Samuels in Seegson Synthetics, and shortly after to Take the Elevator to Seegson Synthetics. From the transit you just stepped off of, turn to your left and go up the steps, passing under the Towerlink Transit System sign at the top and going through an unmarked door on your right. Head up the small set of steps, ignoring the elevator on your left and passing through another unmarked door in front of you. Board the nearby elevator and press the button to go To Seegson Synthetics. Step off the elevator to see a disturbing situation involving the dead thing behind the desk. While you're trying to absorb that sight, your objective will update to Climb the Elevator Shaft to the Upper Labs. Move behind the desk and access the Sevastolink terminal, browsing to the Personal folder and opening the file titled, Smythe Read This. It's here that you'll find that the four digit code for the nearby door is 8382. From where you got off the elevator, turn to your left and choose the option to Use Plasma Torch, then input the code 8382 to open the door. Hop into the vent and move through until you have to exit, then shimmy across a ladder only to have to climb another just to the left. This will lead you to a another ladder that you must shimmy across and a scripted event will end up with you in an elevator. Climb Up through the roof of the elevator and into yet another vent. Pass through this one to finally reach a room. It would seem that Ventilation / Ladder / Elevator Simulator is over... for a moment. Make your way through this room in the only way that you can and save your game when the opportunity presents itself. Go through the door to your left, then follow the hallway as it curves left, taking the first door on... you guessed it, your left. From here, approach the big door with the Apollo Secure Transit sign above it, updating your objective to Find a Way Through the Electrified Door. In order to get through the door, you're going to have to approach and Turn Off three different devices that are scattered throughout the area. The first is a few feet behind the Apollo Secure Transit door, and the other two are across the hall from this area, both in their own rooms. To find them easily, just look at the ground and follow the wires. They will lead you exactly where you need to go. When the third one is down, return to the Apollo Secure Transit door and Turn Off the final device. Head through the now open door and follow the corridor as it ramps up. When a door closes in front of you, hop into the nearby ventilation shaft and observe Samuels in action. Continue to follow the vents until your objective updates to Find Samuels, then exit into a small room. To leave the room, approach the door and select the Use Button option, then pass through and turn to your right. Loot the nearby desk and body for supplies, then access the Sevastolink terminal and browse to the Personal folder. Open the RE: Plans Tonight document and read up to learn that there is a lockdown button somewhere near the desk. From the Sevastolink terminal, move right to a nearby pillar where you can choose to Lift Lockdown. The big door at the far end of the room should now be unlocked, but as we expected, the Synthetics that lead up to it are more than just display models like the file suggested. For now, just sprint past them and through the door, then make your way behind the Sales Agreements desk and use the Access Rewire to set Gas Divert to Active. This should cause a major burst of flames to cover the Synthetic Showroom door that separates you from the Androids. Exit the Sales Agreement room and go straight, picking up the Molotov V.2 from the dead body near the small set of steps. Go into the nearby room and snatch up all the loot that you can, then craft as many Pipe Bombs, Medkits, Molotovs and EMP Mines your supplies will allow. When you're done, save your game, reload your Shotgun and Revolver, then head back to the Synthetic Showroom door.

That mysterious section of the mine that was made secure (at one time) with the barbed wire and the heavy gate was certainly unusual... I thought that perhaps explosives had been stored there, but it had a lot of differences from other abandoned mines where I have seen explosives stored before. And that section where the rock was carefully stacked up to seal off the drift, but still had ventilation pipes embedded in it? What was that about? I have never seen anything like that before or since. The significance of that didn’t fully register with me at the time because I was trying to figure out what the rest of that mysterious section was all about. I wish I had investigated it more thoroughly. So, perhaps needless to say, I remain quite curious about what could be blocked off back there, but still requires ventilation… As a viewer, it must be difficult to keep track of the haulage adits, drifts, winzes and tunnels running off in all directions. With this one, I have to work to keep it clear in MY head as I’m editing and I’m the one that shot the footage and explored the mine! I receive a lot of questions from viewers on how I avoid getting lost in such an environment and I’m not quite sure how to explain it, but I somehow keep a mental map in my head while I’m exploring that lets me stay oriented. Haha, and having said that, it would seem that I am almost guaranteeing that I get hopelessly lost in the next mine I visit by making such a remark. The abandoned mine gods have a good sense of humor… Then, of course, there is also adherence to the “right hand rule” to avoid getting lost, which is quite simple and effective (even though I did not strictly follow it in this abandoned mine). By the end of this video in the series (I haven’t finished editing all of the footage yet, but I believe there will be two more videos), you will have seen the real heart of the Buca della Vena Mine, which is that gigantic chamber – the one with the lone ore cart - filled with pillars that runs in hundreds of feet in all directions (including up). However, despite finally reaching the heart of the mine, there were still plenty of secrets and surprises to uncover still. This video describes our exploration of the Scallywag Mine in Death Valley, California the way it was on 3-24-2019. The cross country out and back hike is 6.9 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 1660 feet, and starts on Badwater Road a short way south of the Ashford Mill ruins. The fun and challenging hike goes up a large obvious canyon, and wash, to the remains of two aerial trams and other mine relics. There are a few dry falls in the wash that need to be climbed. The actual workings are high on a steep mountainside above the wash near the top of the trams. There are several adits and open stopes that make up the workings of this mine and many are difficult to access.

The two styles are often considered one body of classical architecture. Roman architecture flourished in the Roman Republic and even more so under the Empire, when the great majority of surviving buildings were constructed. It used new materials, particularly concrete, and newer technologies such as the arch and the dome to make buildings that were typically strong and well-engineered. Large numbers remain in some form across the empire, sometimes complete and still in use. Roman Architecture covers the period from the establishment of the Roman Republic in 509 BC to about the 4th century AD, after which it becomes reclassified as Late Antique or Byzantine architecture. Almost no substantial examples survive from before about 100 BC, and most of the major survivals are from the later empire, after about 100 AD. Roman architectural style continued to influence building in the former empire for many centuries, and the style used in Western Europe beginning about 1000 is called Romanesque architecture to reflect this dependence on basic Roman forms. The Romans only began to achieve significant originality in architecture around the beginning of the Imperial period, after they had combined aspects of their original Etruscan architecture with others taken from Greece, including most elements of the style we now call classical architecture. They moved from trabeated construction mostly based on columns and lintels to one based on massive walls, punctuated by arches, and later domes, both of which greatly developed under the Romans. The classical orders now became largely decorative rather than structural, except in colonnades. Stylistic developments included the Tuscan and Composite orders; the first being a shortened, simplified variant on the Doric order and the Composite being a tall order with the floral decoration of the Corinthian and the scrolls of the Ionic. Copyright protection secures a person's right to his or her first-to-invent claim of the original invention in question, highlighted in Article I, Section 8, Clause 8 of the United States Constitution, which gives the following enumerated power to the United States Congress: In 1641, the first patent in North America was issued to Samuel Winslow by the General Court of Massachusetts for a new method of making salt. On April 10, 1790, President George Washington signed the Patent Act of 1790 (1 Stat. 109) into law proclaiming that patents were to be authorized for "any useful art, manufacture, engine, machine, or device, or any improvement therein not before known or used". On July 31, 1790, Samuel Hopkins of Pittsford, Vermont became the first person in the United States to file and to be granted a patent for an improved method of "Making Pot and Pearl Ashes". The Patent Act of 1836 (Ch. 357, 5 Stat. 117) further clarified United States patent law to the extent of establishing a patent office where patent applications are filed, processed, and granted, contingent upon the language and scope of the claimant's invention, for a patent term of 14 years with an extension of up to an additional 7 years. However, the Uruguay Round Agreements Act of 1994 (URAA) changed the patent term in the United States to a total of 20 years, effective for patent applications filed on or after June 8, 1995, thus bringing United States patent law further into conformity with international patent law. The modern-day provisions of the law applied to inventions are laid out in Title 35 of the United States Code (Ch. 950, sec. 1, 66 Stat. 792).
