How long does the process of digestion last? Do you find yourself still hungry no matter how much you eat? If so, you might be eating foods that are too high on the glycemic index. It’s definitely something worth knowing if you’re struggling with excess weight. The glycemic index is a system of values given to foods according to how quickly they cause an increase in blood glucose levels. To put that in layman’s terms, it basically measures how fast different foods are digested by the body. Glucose is a simple sugar that gives your body energy, and you get it from the foods you eat. Your blood is what carries this sugar throughout your body to all your hungry cells and tissues. That’s why it’s called blood glucose. If you eat something that’s high on the index, your blood glucose will spike, giving you a fast boost of energy. But they can still take a while to be digested by your stomach. It can take you anywhere from 2 to 5 hours for your stomach to digest meats, like chicken, lamb, and pork. - If you’re having pizza that’s just dough, cheese, and sauce, that might rate high on the glycemic index, mostly because of that dough. But believe it or not, adding toppings actually makes your slice healthier! - You might encounter foods that will be low on the index, but if they’re processed, they most likely still contain tons of saturated fats, sugar, and empty calories. It's creamy, it's so delicious and super easy to make! ==ingredients== * 5 Eggs * 100gr /1 cup Almond Flour *sweetener / honey / Stevia * 200ml/6.7fl OZ heavy cream *200 gr / 7 OZ dark chocolate *40gr/ 1.4 OZ toasted hazelnuts *50gr / 1.5OZ dark chocolate (for garnish) ==directions== for making the cake we’ll need to beat the eggs, - separate the egg whites from the yolks - beating the egg yolks add just a bit luke warm water, this gives the egg yolks a lot of volume, it ripples it’s amount - combine safely the eggs - add 100gr of almond flour to the egg mixture - fill a piping bag, you don’t need it but i want to make it evenly, - place a parchment paper and pipe circles - bake on 150° - 300°F for 10-12min == making the ganache == - heat up 200ml heavy cream - add 200gr bittersweet chocolate 70% Lindt chocolate - mix it and let it cool for 30min to an hour - now we gonna beat the ganache in a stand mixer == decorating == - place the cooled cake upside down - I use an offside spatula and spread the ganache evenly layer for layer. - pipe some balls on the side - add some hazelnuts for the crunch inside and top some more chocolate! Chill 2 cans of coconut milk in the refrigerator for at least 6 hours, preferrably overnight 2. Empty the contents of other 1 cans of coconut milk into a saucepan. Add the sugar and bring to a simmer, stir once and gently simmer for 30 minutes, or until the milk is thick and has reduced by half (After about 10 minutes, you'll notice that the milk will start to turn a golden color – that's ok and is exactly what's supposed to happen.) Remove from heat and let cool completely. 3. Open the 2 cans of chilled coconut milk. The cream should have risen to the top. Carefully scoop the cream into a mixing bowl. (Reserve the water below to use in a smoothie.) With an electric beater, whip up the coconut cream on high speed until it's light and fluffy, 3-4 minutes. 4. Add the condensed coconut milk and whip on high speed for another 2-3 minutes. 5. Transfer to a lidded container and freeze for 4 hours or overnight. This ice cream does freeze harder than my other so just give it a few minutes at room temperature to make it easier to scoop. 6. TO MAKE THE LABELS: I posted a PDF for the labels on my facebook page https://www.facebook.com/GemmaStaffordbiggerbolderbaking Vanilla Ice Cream * Mix together 2 Cups ice cream base, 1tsp of vanilla extract and seeds from ½ vanilla pod Chocolate and Almond Ice Cream * Mix together 1 ¾ cups ice cream base with 3 tblsp of cocoa powder and ⅓ cup toasted almonds Raspberry Ripple Ice Cream * Mix together 2 cups ice cream base with 2 tblsp of raspberry puree *For the puree, blend 1/2 cup of fruit and 2 tablespoon of sugar Pina Colada Ice Cream * Mix together 2 cups ice cream base with ½ cup of pineapple puree *For the puree, blend 1/2 cup of fruit and 2 tablespoon of sugar Matcha Green Tea Ice Cream * Mix together 2 cups ice cream base with 1 ¼ tblsp of matcha green tea powder * You can find Matcha Green Tea Powder in many grocery stores. Course Dessert, Snack Cuisine American Prep Time 20 minutes Cook Time 10 minutes Total Time 30 minutes Servings 6 people Calories 540 kcal Ingredients 8 whole graham crackers totals 1 cup 4 tbsp unsalted butter 1/4 cup brown sugar pressed and packed 1/4 tsp salt 8 oz room temp cream cheese 1 can can of condensed sweet milk 14 oz 1/2 can can be used to reduce sweetness 1/4 cup heavy whipping cream (or 1/2 cup) double amount if you reduce condensed sweet milk 1 tbsp lime zest (double amount for extra tartness) 6 tbsp lime juice about 3 limes Instructions making the crust first.  Crush the graham crackers.  Combine in a mixing bowl:  graham cracker crumbles, melted butter, brown sugar and salt.  take the mixture and place on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. press the mixture into a 1/4 thick 12-14 inch round cookie like shape. bake for about 8 minutes. after cooling break the cookie into small pieces. Making the ice cream:  With a mixer, mix cream cheese until creamy. (1-2 minutes mix) add sweetened condensed milk and mix. (1 minute mix) add whipping cream, lime zest, lime juice and salt. (1 minute mix) Take 1/3 of graham cracker crumbs and place in bottom of 8x4 baking pan.  (greased)  Pour 1/2 ice cream mix over top. Cover this layer with the cookie crumble. Cover this layer with the remaining ice cream mix. top with the rest of the cookie crumble. Cover with plastic wrap and place in freezer. (8 hours) decorate with limes and whip cream if desired.
