What is difficulty and how is it adjusted? What if the difficulty could not be satisfied? Would sudden changes in mining hash power kill Bitcoin? Will mining ever be considered a central bank responsibility or national security issue, once the crypto economy becomes large enough? These questions are from the MOOC 10.2 session, and the September and October Patreon Q&A sessions, which took place on September 14th, September 29th, and October 27th 2018 respectively. How does difficulty targeting work? What determines the desired pattern? Should difficulty re-targeting still happen every 2016 blocks? Could difficulty changes (and hence profitability changes) make all miners drop out? These questions are from the MOOC 7.2 and 9.2 sessions, which took place on February 26th 2017 and February 23rd 2018 respectively. Andreas is a teaching fellow with the University of Nicosia. http://workwitheugene.com/Cryptocurrency Learn The Truth About Cryptocurrency Mining Difficulty Cryptocurrency, which is now emerging into the mainstream, is digital currency that is independent of any central bank or depository. It is highly secure, and each coin maintains the full history of exchange transactions in its blockchain best described as a digital register. The increase in value of cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, and LiteCoin have created significant interest from individuals and institutions alike. Many simply buy the crypto coin of their choice and hope it increases in value. There is an alternative to just buying cryptocurrency and that is to become a "miner" of cryptocurrencies. The entire cryptocurrency matrix, which is the computer hardware and software requires "miners" to run the mining operation constantly. Early adopters were able to use home-based computers to run mining operations. http://workwitheugene.com/Cryptocurrency Today, the volume of mining activities has increased, and extensive hardware operations called "farms" have been created to maximize mining success. The investment in these operations is significant and is quickly overtaking the operations of the home-based miner. Working with specialists in cryptocurrency we have arranged access to high powered mining farms for our members through our new product called Crypto. By providing education and access to leading edge technology our members can participate in the forefront of the cryptocurrency movement without the enormous costs of equipment, programming and on-going operations. The difference between mining and buying cryptocurrency can be explained using the analogy of Aesop's fable "The Goose that Laid the Golden Eggs." Buying cryptocurrency is much like buying the golden eggs laid by the goose. Whereas, mining cryptocurrency is like having the goose. We believe the goose is more valuable as it can produce eggs many times just as ongoing mining will continue to produce crypto coins. cryptocurrency mining difficulty explained - Cryptocurrency mining difficulty explained bitcoin catford bitcoin auction results greek transliteration iota subscript digibyte to usd dogecoin litecoin Download and watch When Will The Bitcoin Difficulty Increase HD high quality mp4 3gp 144p 320p 720p 1080p videos to your phone free Download and watch How Much Will Bitcoin Difficulty Increase HD high quality mp4 3gp 144p 320p 720p 1080p videos to your phone free What is Bitcoin Mining Difficulty Bitcoin Mining Guide - Getting started with Bitcoin mining A chart showing bitcoin mining difficulty changes over time Bitcoin is the currency of the future & Genesis Mining is the largest cloud mining company on the market How to buy a pack in onecoin - Start making your own internet bussines today onecoin mining difficulty explained by dr. swisscoin mining difficulty explained. What is mining difficulty in Hindi/Urdu|Bitcoin Mining| Blockchain|Block|Mining Reward|HashRate|Full overview with example A blockchain is a digitized, decentralized, public ledger of all cryptocurrency transactions. Constantly growing as ‘completed’ blocks (the most recent transactions) are recorded and added to it in chronological order, it allows market participants to keep track of digital currency transactions without central recordkeeping. Each node (a computer connected to the network) gets a copy of the blockchain, which is downloaded automatically. Originally developed as the accounting method for the virtual currency Bitcoin, blockchains – which use what's known as distributed ledger technology (DLT) – are appearing in a variety of commercial applications today. Currently, the technology is primarily used to verify transactions, within digital currencies though it is possible to digitize, code and insert practically any document into the blockchain. Doing so creates an indelible record that cannot be changed; furthermore, the record’s authenticity can be verified by the entire community using the blockchain instead of a single centralized authority What is the Bitcoin Mining Block Reward? https://www.bitcoinmining.com/what-is-the-bitcoin-block-reward/ https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Difficulty https://blockchain.info/stats ▀▄▀▄▀▄HashFlare▄▀▄▀▄▀ USE CODE 'Hf17prof5' for 5% DISCOUNT Join Hashflare: https://hashflare.io/r/B348A574 ▀▄▀▄▀▄Genisis Mining▄▀▄▀▄▀ ****Use my promo code for "Of5HqX" for 3% off your purchase and I'll return the favor :) **** www.genesis-mining.com Genesis mining is one of the largest most popular cloud mining services and they've been in business for over 3 years now. Every 14 days the difficulty is adjusted. Most of the times it is increasing and since November 2017 it has exploded. What impact does this have on your mining rewards? You want to start mining today ? Start mining bitcoins from today The beautiful thing about mining is that we are not as susceptible to market volatility like those who buy and hold or those who trade. Yet we occupy the top rung of the profitability chain. I may not make as much short term as the risk taking traders, but I keep winning long term. John Mcafee: “Bitcoin investors will be the richest people on earth. Anyone who understands bitcoin cannot deny this. But what does that say about bitcoin miners? Best Pool For Mining | GPU , Antminer If the pool has variable difficulty like most pools do mining with high end hardware should not be a problem as the difficulty will adjust based off the shares your hardware submits. If the pool has a high payment threshold for those with low end mining hardware may not be feasible. It should not matter how many miners a pool. It is more to do with hashrate which would increase often a block is found by the pool. The higher the hashrate of the pool the more consistent your payments will be however overall earning should not be affected when averaged out. Your ping to the pool will count as you may submit outdated shares leading to penalties on your earnings so best to stick to pools that are geographically close to you. That being said the fee which the pool takes is also important to consider as well as trying to keep the network decentralised. My method would be finding a set of pools with low pings as well as fees and then deciding how often you are willing to go without payment, If it is multiple days try to stick with smaller pools to decentralise the network, else you could stick to slightly bigger pools that pay out more often. Finally if your hardware has a low hashrate avoid pools with high payment thresholds. In this video I break the somewhat confusing and mysterious question of how exactly the block difficulty is defined, represented and updated. There is a simplification/misconception that the requirement is just to find a hash with a required number of leading zeros in hex. This is not the case, it's a little more intricate than that.... I show some examples of real blocks - in particular focusing on the genesis block, and how import it is for initializing the difficulty of mining a block. I clarify the relationship between BITS (in the block header) difficulty, and the actual 256 hash target. In this video I will talk about the latest RavenCoin Party where the difficulty went from 14k to 23k due to auto switching pools of Nicehash. This is a similar situation that occurred many times with PigeonCoin. During the "famed" PigeonCoin Partys massive hash attacks on the coin when difficulty was low only to leave it stranded with a high difficulty for a long time after the difficulty adjustment kicked in. As this progressed the situation became worse and worse. At first it was fun but alas the long period of high difficulty resulted in loss of core miners. History is beginning to repeat itself with the last RavenCoin Partys. The PSA is, do you think something needs to be done with the difficulty adjustment to smooth out the Hash Rate to preserve core miners or do you think in the scheme of things it doesn't matter? For sustainability, the Bitcoin network adjusts its mining difficulty. Every 10 minutes, miners compete to solve a complex math problem to create the next block for Bitcoin rewards. If the processing power of the Bitcoin network keeps increasing, we will finish mining all Bitcoins in no time. To maintain the rate of new block generation at once every 10 minutes, Satoshi Nakamoto has designed the system to adjust the mining difficulty every two weeks, every 2016 blocks. As such, the adjusted difficulty will keep the new block generation rate at the expected time frame of 10 minutes. Currently, the difficulty is set at 480PH/s, about 68 billion times harder than mining the genesis block. That means, based on the current computing power, all miners need to perform 300 sextillion（3*10^23）hashes to find the right answer to mine the new block. Watch the video here! Bitcoin Cash is spiking and there is some discussion whether or not Bitcoin Cash can displace Bitcoin. In other words, could it take the name "Bitcoin"? The short answer is no. The longer answer is that it is exceptionally unlikely because it would require exchanges to all agree on what "Bitcoin" is and make the change simultaneously, else risk losing a ton of customers and transaction volume. In other words, the first exchange to call "Bitcoin Cash" as just "Bitcoin" would essentially be martyr'ing themselves. Bitcoin Cash is seeing a majority of volume come from Korea, although now we are seeing other exchanges increase in volume as a result of FOMO investing. Roger Ver is on a Twitter storm and also talking about Bitcoin Cash such as in the meetup in LA recently. Given his wealth and influence, he can have a substantial impact. Other factors are playing in as well: Right now the Bitcoin mempool size is spiking, which is causing transaction fees to spike. As such, Bitcoin Cash is becoming a more and more attractive alternative to Bitcoin. However, the spike in the mempool is due to spam transactions which aren't "real." As Bitcoin Cash increases in value, more miners switch over as it is more rewarding to mine (and uses same hashing algorithm, SHA256). Lastly, the Emergency Difficulty Adjustment algorithm will be updated on November 13th as the entire Bitcoin Cash network is upgraded. Bitcoin's primary driver of value, as we have established on this channel previously, is now a "store of value" rather than as a "medium of exchange." Given this, there is no way that Bitcoin Cash will attract the level of capital required for a "flippening" as all Wall Street and casual investors care about is Bitcoin. And for Bitcoin Cash to become "Bitcoin," it would have to eclipse it in market cap for the exchanges to all make that change. In the end, the exchanges have the power. The beauty of affiliate links is that I can pick and choose what I like rather than have companies approach me - everything I linked below (with the exception of Trezor since I like Ledger), I use myself frequently. ================ My Recommended Hardware Wallets: If you want to store your cryptocurrencies safely, the best way is through a hardware wallet. Seriously - look it up and you'll find plenty of information supporting this claim. Ledger Blue is premium and convenient, but not necessary. ================ My Favorite Book for Investing in Crypto: Cryptoassets: http://amzn.to/2zKDdCF This book is, bar none, my favorite book for investing in cryptocurrencies. It doesn't bog you down with technical jargon, but instead focuses on all the elements you should understand before you invest. It's a comprehensive book for both beginners and experts. Beginners will find information about major cryptocurrencies (not just Bitcoin) as well as details on historical market events (that you can draw on for future) and events to watch for moving into the future. Experts will find the chapters on valuation particularly useful. For those of you involved in traditional investing, this book is even more of a godsend as finance info is explored (correlations with other asset classes, ETFs, etc). ================ My Recommended Exchanges: Coinbase / GDAX / Bittrex https://www.coinbase.com/join/5a08b12e305a1401d79d10e0 If you sign up to Coinbase using link above, you and I will both receive $10 each after you buy your first $100 of Bitcoin using Coinbase. Bitcoin’s hashing trouble calculation is ordinarily balanced at regular intervals to keep up the ordinary 10-minute square time. It has been balanced for the second time today since the start of a supposed “crypto winter” in mid-November, after which the trouble in mining Bitcoin has been consistently dropping. Difficulty Scaling, Dynamic Difficulty Adjustment, and Dynamic Game Difficulty Balancing are all different names for the same thing. A mechanic by which a game becomes more or less challenging in accordance with the player's skill. This way each player gets an experience customized to suit their level of ability. Lots of games use it: God Hand, Fallout 3, Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 4, and a ton more. Yet few of them use it to the exclusion of regular modes of difficulty adjustment, and there's a reason for that. This video briefly explains why the difficulty of a video matters before moving on to how difficulty scaling can provide a better experience for players. It also talks about the downsides of dynamic difficulty as compared to normal difficulty settings. Finishes with a discussion on player-oriented, or player-centric, dynamic difficulty adjustment, which is when DDA choices are embedded into the gameplay, using Flow as an example. My channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/FerrousPilot satanisonthis: https://www.youtube.com/user/satanisonthis Full Transcript: http://playertomaker.blogspot.ca/2014/07/difficulty-scaling-in-games-armchair.html Key Points: The idea of difficulty scaling makes sense. People with a broad range of skill levels can be given an entertaining degree of challenge, and the difficulty can be tailored to each individual. It also makes the game a little simpler because (if it is the only method of difficulty adjustment), it requires no player intervention. This sounds great for new players who may be unsure of which difficulty to choose. Yet it has some glaring flaws. The program must gather information on the player's performance before adjusting the difficulty, so it is of no use at the beginning of the game. Thus, it's not helpful to new players at all. It may even make the game more daunting if the starting difficulty level is too high. If it's too low, skilled players could get bored before the adjustment kicks in. Difficulty scaling doesn't consider individual preferences. Two players of the same skill may have different preferences when it comes to difficulty. E.g. A person playing for the story alone may want an easy game, even if they can handle a harder one. Spikes in difficulty could be used to accentuate certain parts of the experience. For example, a hard fight against a powerful boss. Dynamic difficulty adjustment might reduce the intensity of some encounters. Player-centric dynamic difficulty adjustment is when difficulty adjustment takes the form of a gameplay element. It seems pretty cool, but no game besides Flow uses it as a major factor. Don't confuse this with player-imposed limitations like character level 1 runs in RPGs. Passive difficulty scaling alone is a no-go. Player-oriented difficulty scaling alone is up in the air. Classic difficulty settings with good tuning and calibration are still pretty great all by themselves, but throwing in some scaling can be fun. God Hand was nice, after all. We have merch! http://bit.ly/cryptophecy-merch Will FPGAs take over the GPU mining market? If they do does that mean that mining the same thing everyone else is mining, albeit more efficiently, will become more profitable or will the network difficulty adjust and everyone will quickly find themselves back in the same rut they were in before they went down the path of FPGAs? To have the most reward with mining (and in most things in life) following the herd is not the way. You must do heavy research and dig deep to find the gems that no one else is looking at or have discovered yet. The world and nature doesn't work in such away that the herd gets rich. Only those willing to go the other way, maybe more risky, but lessons learned, and ability to mitigate risk with proper risk management will usually prove to be much more rewarding than shuffling along with the crowd. ALERT! Since the recording of this video, prices for Bitcoin Cash (BTC) vs Bitcoin (BTC) have exploded in different directions! Watch the entire video for our important price prediction. After a year long surge, the Bitcoin community has hit a tumultuous time. In the wake of the community’s inability to reach a consensus on SegWit2x, BTC's price drops over 20% in a matter of hours. We’ll be taking a look at the driving factors behind Bitcoin's sudden drop, and why Bitcoin Cash appears to be picking up the slack. Our analysis begins with coverage of the SegWit2x debate over increasing the Bitcoin block size from a 1 MB to a 8 MB limit in order to decrease transaction times and ease the increasingly heavy load felt by Bitcoin miners throughout the community. We’ll also be taking a look at the troubling issue of the ever increasing transaction fees, burdening the crypto community as a whole. Along with the faults of the current Bitcoin system we’ll discuss the advantages of Bitcoin Cash’s modified code. Factors such as an already present 8 MB limiter and the incredibly important issue of EDA (Emergency Difficulty Adjustment) will be also be addressed. As with any situation though, there are two sides to the coin, and we will also be digging into the issue of increased mining difficulty and node size, and how these issues can push smaller players out of the picture. This in turn can push us further and further away from the cryptocurrency market goal of truly decentralized peer distribution. To finish off, I’ve teamed up with a Forex guru to come up with an important Bitcoin vs Bitcoin Cash price prediction study, especially what BTC (Bitcoin) and BCH (Bitcoin Cash) have in store for us in the coming weeks. Due to this volatile market, we have seen significant short-term price changes materialize since this video was recorded (11/11/2017). This has actually proven very helpful, as some of the provided predictions have actually taken place. It's been a wild weekend for cryptos, and even though everyone is feeling shaken up, there’s nothing to fear. Cryptocurrencies are here to stay. We just have to stay smart and continue evolving as this ever growing market moves forward. So where do you stand on this debate? If you're a Bitcoin miner, will you start mining Bitcoin Cash now after this fiasco? How about trading...will you HODL BTH now instead of BTC? Investment #2 DigiByte DGB Coin. I think this is one of the most underrated coins out there. Faster than BitCoin, Mineable, Low Fees and the most secure blockchain of any coin. . I will be shooting for 10k in Coins and currently working my way there. Pricewise is a good entry point. What is Digibyte? Published in 2013, DigiByte (Symbol: DGB) is a public source virtual token serving on the DigiByte Blockchain, a decentralized worldwide blockchain. DigiByte is a Bitcoin-based token; however, it has developed in functions, containing 15-second block time and upgraded security. On January 10, 2014, the first Digibyte block was mined. It has one of the longest free blockchains. Generating DigiByte, programmer and entrepreneur Jared Tate aims at establishing a high-speed and protected virtual token that could reach a broader and more distributed association than Bitcoin. There was a premine to repay developers and early adopters. DigiByte built asymmetrical difficulty adjustment mining with DigiShield, that is a widely used technology and the structure of many other decentralized blockchains. It is also the first token to change from a single Proof-of-Work (PoW) algorithm to multi-algorithm mining. Thanks for watching. Anyone with access to the internet and suitable hardware can participate in mining. The mining process involves compiling recent transactions into blocks and trying to solve a computationally difficult puzzle. The participant who first solves the puzzle gets to place the next block on the block chain and claim the rewards. The rewards, which incentivize mining, are both the transaction fees associated with the transactions compiled in the block as well as newly released bitcoin. (Related: How Does Bitcoin Mining Work?) BREAKING DOWN 'Bitcoin Mining' The amount of new bitcoin released with each mined block is called the block reward. The block reward is halved every 210,000 blocks, or roughly every 4 years. The block reward started at 50 in 2009, is now 25 in 2014, and will continue to decrease. This diminishing block reward will result in a total release of bitcoin that approaches 21 million. How hard are the puzzles involved in mining? Well, that depends on how much effort is being put into mining across the network. The difficulty of the mining can be adjusted, and is adjusted by the protocol every 2016 blocks, or roughly every 2 weeks. The difficulty adjusts itself with the aim of keeping the rate of block discovery constant. Thus if more computational power is employed in mining, then the difficulty will adjust upwards to make mining harder. And if computational power is taken off of the network, the opposite happens. The difficulty adjusts downward to make mining easier. In the earliest days of Bitcoin, mining was done with CPUs from normal desktop computers. Graphics cards, or graphics processing units (GPUs), are more effective at mining than CPUs and as Bitcoin gained popularity, GPUs became dominant. Eventually, hardware known as an ASIC, which stands for Application-Specific Integrated Circuit, was designed specifically for mining bitcoin. The first ones were released in 2013 and have been improved upon since, with more efficient designs coming to market. Mining is competitive and today can only be done profitably with the latest ASICs. When using CPUs, GPUs, or even the older ASICs, the cost of energy consumption is greater than the revenue generated.
