The Event Horizon Telescope Collaboration observed the supermassive black hole at the center of M87, finding the dark central shadow in accordance with General Relativity, further demonstrating the power of this 100 year-old theory. To understand more about why the shadows look the way they do, check out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zUyH3XhpLTo I will continue updating this description with more links. What it took to collect these 54-million-year-old photons from a supermassive black hole. Become a Video Lab member! http://bit.ly/video-lab This is an updated version of a video we published in 2016 about the Event Horizon Telescope, an international collaboration to image a black hole for the first time in human history. On April 10, 2019, the team announced their results: They had successfully imaged the supermassive black hole in the center of the galaxy m87, which is nearly 54 million light-years away from us. They were able to achieve unprecedented resolution using very long baseline interferometry, which combines the observations of multiple radio telescopes across the globe. The team wanted to find out whether Einstein's Theory of General Relativity holds up in the extreme environment of black holes, and the results do, in fact, seem to be consistent with the predictions. In the future, we may see more and shaper images of black holes as the team targets smaller wavelengths of light and recruits more telescopes. Eventually, they may include an orbiting space telescope. Vox Observatory takes a magnifying glass to some of life's most interesting questions with a focus on science and technology. How to take a picture of a black hole | Katie Bouman

12:52
At the heart of the Milky Way, there's a supermassive black hole that feeds off a spinning disk of hot gas, sucking up anything that ventures too close -- even light. We can't see it, but its event horizon casts a shadow, and an image of that shadow could help answer some important questions about the universe. Scientists used to think that making such an image would require a telescope the size of Earth -- until Katie Bouman and a team of astronomers came up with a clever alternative. Bouman explains how we can take a picture of the ultimate dark using the Event Horizon Telescope. 12 Things Your Stool Says About Your Health

11:09
How to understand if you're really healthy? Here's the easiest way to do it: check your stool colors and what learn they mean. As gross as it may sound, the color and shape of your stool can reveal a lot about your health. Any changes you might notice can be a sign of a serious disease. TIMESTAMPS Stool color 0:29 White 1:08 Green 2:00 Yellow 2:39 Black 3:38 Red 4:17 Stool shape 5:29 SUMMARY - If you see separate solid lumps reminiscent of nuts or goat feces in your toilet bowl, it is likely a sign of severe constipation. This type of stool means your body lacks fiber. - Sausage-shaped, large, and lumpy stool speaks of constipation. This type of stool is also caused by a lack of fiber. - If the cracked sausage-shaped stool is what you usually have, there are no reasons to worry. That’s a normal stool. You’re doing just fine! - If you stand with those whose feces are soft, sausage-shaped, and smooth – congratulations! Your stool is as perfect as stool can be! - Soft lumps with clear edges are a sign of light diarrhea. It could also mean that you are experiencing irritable bowel syndrome. - If your stool comes in fluffy pieces with ragged edges, it looks like you are having mild diarrhea. Remember how we told you to have more fiber? Well, in this case, it is just the opposite. Maybe there’s too much fiber in your diet.  - Liquid without solid pieces type of feces is what no one likes to see. It speaks of severe diarrhea. Do you take problems with your stools seriously? Do you consult doctors when needed? Feel free to share in the comments section below! REAL Mermaid Sightings Around The World!

10:18
Check out these real mermaid sightings around the world! This top 10 list of amazing discoveries of real life mermaid bodies is absolutely intrigueing! Subscribe For New Videos! http://goo.gl/UIzLeB Watch our "Ancient Objects And HOW They Were Used!" video here: https://youtu.be/0de2nV8OHJk Watch our "Most MYSTERIOUS Ocean Facts!" video here: https://youtu.be/BzrlpgRVPQg Watch our "Most STRANGE Things Found On The Beach!" video here: https://youtu.be/cQjpze_4z5U 10. British Columbia, 1967 In 1967, British Columbia became a hub of mermaid excitement when, one day, Ferry riders spotted a mermaid lounging on the shore of Mayne Island. They claimed they saw a topless, blonde woman with the tail of a porpoise sitting on the beach shore. Some witnesses even became very upset, as they believed they saw the mermaid eating a raw salmon. One tourist from Iowa even managed to take a picture. After the sighting, the mermaid was seen one more time the following week. As the locals got swept up by the spotting of this mysterious mermaid, the town locals began to seek any information relating to her. The town newspaper, The Colonist, put up a $25,000 reward for the mermaid. Arrangements were even made for the mermaid to have room and board once she was found and successfully acclimated into the town setting. Although many believe that the whole thing was a charade, many still believe that what they saw was real. 9. Scotland, 1830 Mermaids are a part of Scotland’s countless mysteries and legends. It’s not surprising, then, that there would be many accounts of mermaid sightings. In 1830, the people of the island of Benbecula saw a mermaid. While cutting seaweed near the shore one day, a woman reportedly saw a miniature woman swimming in the water. Surprised by her discovery, she called many people over to view the water dweller. Some men rushed at her in the water, either to catch her or get a closer look, and the woman swam out of reach. Some boys threw stones at the frightened mermaid and one struck her in the back. A few days later, the corpse of the mermaid supposedly washed up on the shore. Like many of the other claims of mermaids, this one was small, with pale white skin and had the tail of a fish without scales. After the discovery, the sheriff of the town thought it only fitting that the mermaid have a proper burial. Someone constructed a coffin and the mermaid, wrapped in a shroud, was laid to rest above the shoreline where she was found. To this day, no one knows exactly where the mermaid was buried as no marker was left to denote the spot. 8. West Indies, 1614 John Smith, the same John Smith from Pocahontas, reported that he saw a mermaid off the coast of West Indies in 1614. According to the story, Smith saw a woman swimming parallel to the shore. He was captivated by the grace in which she moved and noted that she had ears that were too long, a nose that was too short, eyes that were too round, and green hair. He also noted that the woman was a little attractive from the waist up. From the waist down, however, she was all fish. Some doubt has been thrown on the veracity of the tale of course, otherwise where would the mystery be. One source claims he wasn’t in the West Indies but in Newfoundland. Another historian says Smith wasn’t in the West Indies in 1614, though he was there in 1607. Potato patato in this case. The same historian suggested that Alexandre Dumas fabricated the tale to give credence to his own mermaid story about a Frenchman searching for a Dutchman who had four children with a mermaid. 7. Norway, 1608 In 1608, Henry Hudson explored the cold northern waters off Norway. Written in his journal, he describes a day when he encountered a group of mermaids. Hudson claimed a mermaid appeared in the water, saw his crew and called up more of her mermaid sisters. He described the women as being as big as the men in his crew, with very white skin and long dark hair. He claimed their tails looked like a dolphin’s but were spotted like a mackerel. Hudson was thrilled that he had discovered mermaids. What makes this case so strange is that it occurred in the Bering Sea. Most mermaid sightings are discounted as sailors mistaking animals, often manatees, as mermaids. However, no manatees swim the waters of the Bering Sea. Naturalist Philip Henry Gosse, in his mid-1800s work The Romance of Natural History, believes it to be impossible that Hudson mistook an animal for this mermaid. He believes seasoned sailors such as Hudson would be able to identify animals in that location easily. Gosse believes either Hudson made this entire story up or Hudson saw something truly unique to the realm of science. We may never know. Origins Explained is the place to be to find all the answers to your questions, from mysterious events and unsolved mysteries to everything there is to know about the world and its amazing animals!

GLASGOW COMA SCALE (GCS) made easy (with ANIMATIONS & MNEMONICS)!!

06:11
Hi friends. This is a video on GLASGOW COMA SCALE (GCS) with interesting animations and mnemonics on sports. If you are also fan of cricket, you will not forget any of the mnemonic. And after watching this video, I'm sure you will be able to calculate GCS score of any patient in ER, or wards (specially head injury patients) as well. And it will also help you in monitoring chronic patients in ICU's. Calculate the score in each category (as I have told in my video with the help of mnemonics) and then note the final GCS as EVM score. Maximum GCS score is 15 and minimum is 3. if the patient is intubated or tracheostomized, then note maximum score as 10T. References: Harrison Internal Medicine, www.glasgowcomascale.org, wikipedia, medscape I hope this video will help you memorize and calculate GCS score of patients fast. A Color Test That Can Tell Your Mental Age

07:37
A lot of the times your brain “feels” way younger or older than you are. That's called mental age. Do you wanna know yours? Lucky for you, Bright Side put together a simple test that will help you figure out if you're a carefree child, an old and wise sage or just exactly as mentally “old” as you are. Just answer our questions, write down your points for every answer, add them all up and get your results! But enough talking, let's begin! If you got 7-12 points, mentally you're just under 20 years old. It doesn't matter what your passport says – you’re a carefree teenager at heart! If you're way older than 20, congratulations – you've managed to carry this constant feeling of enthusiasm and love for life through all these years. Keep shining! If your result is 13–20 points, you are 20–29 years old. You are active, creative, and full of life, but you can already call yourself an adult. Childhood and teenage years are over, but you took the best from them and left all the unnecessary stuff behind. It doesn't mean that you're not having fun though – your life is just as exciting as it was. If all of your points added up to 21–28 points, your mental age is 30–39 years. You’re still active and curious about new things and ideas, but you are already responsible and thoughtful. If you think about it, that's the perfect balance between the children's joy for life and adults' independence. The golden mean at its best! If your total number of points is 29–35, you are 40–49 years old. You're mature and experienced, and you know exactly how to live your life. You have no time for nonsense – you're determined and hardworking. You know what you want and how to get it. The Great Pacific Garbage Patch Is Not What You Think It Is | The Swim

07:51
It's not an island twice the size of Texas. But it is severely impacting marine life and human health... and incredibly hard to study. How Millions of Microscopic Fibers Are Ending Up in Our Bodies - https://youtu.be/Bbg0L7JN15U Read More What Happens to the Plastic We Throw Out https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/06/the-journey-of-plastic-around-the-globe/ "Henderson Island is a tiny, uninhabited island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, 3,000 miles from major population centers. Though it is half the size of Manhattan, more than 19 tons of trash litter its white, sandy beaches. Researchers estimate that it has the highest concentration of debris of any place in the world, for a total of over 37 million pieces on the entirety of the small island. For every square meter you walk, on average you’ll find 672 pieces of trash. For each visible piece of debris on the beach in the video above, two pieces are buried in the sand. How does so much trash wash ashore on Henderson Island?" We know ocean plastic is a problem. We can’t fix it until we answer these 5 questions. https://www.vox.com/science-and-health/2018/7/3/17514172/how-much-plastic-is-in-the-ocean-2018 "Ocean plastic has, in a pretty short time, become a surprisingly potent international environmental movement. For one, there’s more awareness now about the astounding quantity of plastic — between 4.7 and 12.8 million metric tons — floating around in the ocean. As the World Economic Forum put it, this volume is 'equivalent to dumping the contents of one garbage truck into the ocean per minute.' But what about large-scale, long-term plastic reduction? Shouldn’t we also be working toward that?" A running list of action on plastic pollution https://www.nationalgeographic.com/environment/2018/07/ocean-plastic-pollution-solutions/ "THE WORLD HAS a plastic pollution problem and it’s snowballing—but so is public awareness and action. Each year, an estimated 18 billion pounds of plastic waste enters the world’s ocean from coastal regions. That’s about equivalent to five grocery bags of plastic trash piled up on every foot of coastline on the planet. New research is emerging apace about the possible long-term impacts of tiny pieces of plastic on the marine food chain—raising fresh questions about how it might ultimately impact human health and food security. The world is waking up to a crisis of ocean plastic—and we're tracking the developments and solutions as they happen." ____________________ Ben Lecomte's historic swim across the Pacific Ocean is a feat that can’t be missed. We FINALLY Know What a Black Hole Looks Like

04:50
The Event Horizon Telescope project has been working relentlessly to composite the first black hole photo the world has seen and it will change how we look at physics moving forward. Thumbnail Credit (Background Image): Hotaka Shiokawa / EHT How Close Are We to Photographing a Black Hole? - https://youtu.be/8GDx7uM9Vdw Why Don’t We Have a Photo of a Black Hole Yet? - https://youtu.be/7fFL9oLNJOI Read More: Press Conference: Live-streamed from National Science Foundation https://www.nsf.gov/news/special_reports/blackholes/ “Theorists can calculate properties of black holes based on their understanding of the universe, and such discoveries have come from a range of great thinkers, from Albert Einstein to Stephen Hawking to Kip Thorne. However, despite being so powerful, it's hard to see something that does not emit photons, let alone traps any light that passes by.” Science Behind Event Horizon Telescope https://eventhorizontelescope.org/science "Since there is a lot of missing data, you may ask how making a picture is even possible. To give you an idea of how this works, you can think about the measurements we make from telescopes in the EHT as a bit like notes in a song. Each pair of telescopes produces a measurement that corresponds to the tone of a just a single note. The tone that is heard is related to the projected distance between the telescopes, as seen from the direction of the black hole; the farther apart the telescopes, the higher the pitch of the note." ____________________ Elements is more than just a science show. If the Moon were replaced with some of our planets

01:43
In order show: Mars Venus Neptune Uranus Jupiter Saturn Mercury is intentionally left off as it isn't Much bigger than our Moon (and hence is boring) Everything is correctly scaled. The Axial tilts are not particularly accurate. the moon that flies in front of Saturn is Tethys. It is Tiny. but *very* close Dione would be on a collision course, it's orbital distance from Saturn is Nearly identical to our Moon's orbit around Earth Titan, which is Larger than our Moon, is outside the orbit of Dione **************** on Jupiter, you might be able to make out the 4 big moons, They all have orbits larger than our moons orbit. but I stuck them on the far side of jupiter so that they could be seen so it looks as if they are closer (to Jupiter) than they really are. *************** Video creation method I created an Earth Moon system in 3dsmax, with accurate sizes and accurate orbital distances.. I than matched video of the real Moon with my video camera, against my model. I also researched the correct FOV of my video camera. I used both methods to verify my Virtual camera's FOV (around 47 degrees). I next modeled up the rest of the planets in proper scale (Real values) set at the distance of the moon (also real values), created the animation of them rotating around, and composited the whole bunch. *************** Faq: Scales used in Visualization: Celestial Body Radius (in km) Moon: 1738 Mars: 3397 Venus: 6052 Neptune: 25,269 (equatorial) 24,340 (polar) Uranus: 25,559 (equatorial) 24,973 (polar) Jupiter: 71,490 (equatorial) 66,854 (polar) Saturn: 60,268 (equatorial) 54,360 (polar) (not including rings) Distance to Moon 384,000km Faq: (will expand as needed) 1, We would not be engulfed by Jupiter or any other planet, Jupiter's radius is 71,490 km and the distance to the Moon is 384,000km 2, Saturn is not larger than Jupiter. Saturn + RINGS is larger than Jupiter 3, We would suffer from really really horrible tides, and Volcanoes And some pretty bad Radiation from Jupiter. It *could* strip away our atmosphere, but haven't done the math. Eventually our planet would become tidally locked (that is the same side of Earth would always face Jupiter. we would Still have some bad tides and volcanoes from being in a slightly ellipitical orbit, and from the other moons of Jupiter, and the Sun having tidal influence. I have not calculated how bad the Tides would be. A Simple guess would be at Least 300 times more exaggerated than they are now, This figure could be way off, it's simply an educated guess. 4, We would not be in the rings of Saturn. Or to rephrase that, we would not be in any of the Visable rings of Saturn, There are some very very faint rings that strech out far that we would be in, but i did not model them. 5, We would not be crushed by the Gravity of Jupiter, This is not how orbiting works!. However, at the Roche limit, we WOULD become a new ring system, The Roche limit is *about* 36,000km above the "surface" of Jupiter or 106,000km from the center of Jupiter. So, to reiterate if the center of Jupiter was 106,000km away from the center of the earth, Our planet would become a new Ring system of Jupiter. 6, I did not model the Ring of debris around Uranus (this faq will be deleted in a few days) 7, This is not an ad for any beer company, no one has endorsed me, or this animation, It's just the traffic that drove by. 8, There is Ring Shine on Saturn, but it is very faint, the Rings are reflecting light onto Saturn in the animation. The moon that flies by is Tethys 9, I love Pluto, and Mercury. They are left off because they are too small. Pluto is smaller than our Moon, and Mercury is not significantly larger than our Moon. 10, The "Sun" i used for lighting the planets is slightly off from reality, this was done so that they weren't totally dark and boring 11 FOV is about 47 degrees 12 Orbiting! Yes! we would be a moon of Saturn, Jupiter, Uranus, and Neptune. They are much more massive than the Earth. Venus is about the same size of the Earth and we would orbit around a center point between us 13 Rotation rates and axial tilts are not accurate to anything 14 Radius of the Sun is 695,500 km, and hence if it were where our Moon is, we would be engulfed by it

The hidden oil patterns on bowling lanes

07:41
Every bowling lane has a hidden oil pattern. In this episode of Vox Almanac, Phil Edwards finds out what that means. Help us make more ambitious videos by joining the Vox Video Lab. It gets you exclusive perks, like livestream Q&As with all the Vox creators, a badge that levels up over time, and video extras bringing you closer to our work! Learn more at http://bit.ly/video-lab Every lane has a pattern. In this episode of Vox Almanac, Phil Edwards explores how they change the game. Bowling isn’t just about a great ball and good form — if you want to understand the sport, you have to understand the lane. Every bowling lane, including the one in your neighborhood alley, is coated with an oil pattern to protect the wood. But these patterns aren’t just for protection — the way in which oil is applied to the lane can affect the speed and direction of your ball. These patterns are so important that recreational bowlers and professional bowlers bowl on vastly different patterns — the Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) even classifies the patterns it uses in tournaments. Phil Edwards met with professional bowler Parker Bohn III at his childhood bowling alley, Howell Lanes in Howell, New Jersey. He guided Phli through the complex strategy a pro bowler uses when encountering different oil patterns. Not only do they have to assess which pattern is in use, but they also have to judge how that pattern changes as the oil shifts and slides over the day. Knowing how to play a specific lane can be the difference between a title and second place. But these patterns aren’t just for the pros — they’re relevant to recreational bowlers as well. Watch the video to see how you can use these patterns to step up your game. The Scale Axis Picture Show

06:54
Joachim Giesen, Balint Miklos, Mark Pauly, Camille Wormser ACM SoCG Video/Multimedia 2009 Abstract: We demonstrate how the scale axis transform can be used to compute a parameterized family of shape skeletons. The skeletons gradually represent only the most important features of a shape, in a scale-adaptive manner. Here a shape O is any bounded open subset of the plane R2. The scale axis for scale value s is the medial axis of the multiplicatively grown shape Os, where Os is the union of medial balls of O with radii scaled by the factor s. We present a simple algorithm to compute a parameterized family of skeletons for shapes that are finite unions of balls in the plane. The algorithm is based on the scale axis transform. We compare the computed family of skeletons with two medial axis filters, namely the -medial axis, and a filter based on an angle criterion. http://lgg.epfl.ch/publications.php

True Pyramids Purpose Has Been Finally Discovered

12:17
Many researchers thought that the Egyptian tombs were constructed to highlight the majesty pharaohs. And that's what we studied at school. Yeah, past tense! Brace yourselves, folks, because it looks as if scientists have finally discovered the true purpose of the pyramids! It seems these unique structures might have had a function that was a far cry from burying the dead... TIMESTAMPS: How the Great Pyramid of Giza is different from any other traditional tombs 1:22 Could the ancient Egyptians have had technologies as advanced as the modern ones? 2:57 The Great Pyramid's mysteries 4:20 What about the “sarcophagi”? 6:34 “The Queen's Chamber” beneath the Great Pyramid 7:27 What was the gold capstone at the top of the Great Pyramid used for 9:46 Could ancient Egyptians us wireless energy for communication purposes? 10:45 #greatpyramid #pyramidofgiza Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY: - The Great Pyramid of Giza was made with over 2 million stone blocks, each weighing from 3 to 30 tons. Actually, the most gigantic ones can be as heavy as 50 tons! The base of the Great Pyramid covers an area of 592,000 square feet, and each of its sides is about 218,000 square feet in size. - If you let go of the stereotype that ancient civilizations were less developed than we are today, a question arises: could the ancient Egyptians have had technologies as advanced as the modern ones? What if their knowledge was lost only to be rediscovered centuries later? - Interestingly enough, the Egyptians also used a special material, dolomite, on the inner sides of the pyramid. This mineral is known to multiply electrical conductivity. - Modern technology still can't recreate the gypsum-based mortar that was used during the construction of the pyramids. This kind of gypsum withstands huge amounts of pressure. So this may sound bizarre, but the mortar holding them together is, in fact, stronger than the blocks of the pyramid themselves. - In 1993, an inaccessible secret room was uncovered beneath the Great Pyramid. This room, which seemed to be deliberately concealed, was dubbed “The Queen's Chamber”. In 2011, thanks to more developed technologies, it became possible to explore the room with the help of a remote camera. - At the top of the Great Pyramid of Giza, there used to be a capstone made entirely of gold. It forwarded a path to transfer negative ions (those are atoms with an electrical charge) to the ionosphere (the layer of the earth’s atmosphere that contains a ton of said atoms). And that’s how an electric current of immense power was produced! - Another weird thing you can see in such carvings is what clearly looks like a wireless antenna. Perhaps the ancient Egyptians used wireless energy for communication purposes? They very well could’ve used electricity at weaving plants to manufacture yarn. Archival 3D Photography

23:11
In this tutorial, we are focusing on 3D imaging or photogrammetry, We will delve into how it works, a bit of its history, show some practical examples and walk us through the process. Along the way, we will look at some of the gotchas and the essentials that you will need to get started, which are surprisingly minimal. Photogrammetry is the science of making measurements from photographs, or making photographs measurable. Common results from photogrammetry include: Orthophotos. An orthorectified image is geometrically corrected so that the scale is uniform: the photo has the same lack of distortion as a map. A digital orthoimage is created from several photographs mosaicked to form the final image. 3D models. Using the same photo series, it’s possible to create a complete 3D model of an object, place, or even a person. Digital Elevation Model. A digital elevation model (DEM) is a digital model or 3D representation of a terrain's surface, created from terrain elevation data. Animation. Videos can be made directly from interacting with the models in a variety of software applications. We’re going to take a look at some amazing advances in photography and software that makes creating measurable photos easy and incredibly useful. This is the first of several tutorials. We'll add links as they come out. Thanks for watching, comments welcome! codifi.org
RC CAR DRIVES ON POOL!!

I DROVE MY RC CAR ACROSS A SWIMMING POOL ON TOP OF THE WATER! CHECK OUT THIS EPIC VLOG! 🎁 EVERYDAY GIVEAWAY CONTEST 🎁 https://goo.gl/i8ETqP Today Carter Sharer and his brother Stephen Sharer and Lizzy Sharer (Sharer Fam) went to the backyard to try and drive an rc car on water. Carters Idea was to drive the fast remote control car across the pool and hydroplane. If this works it would be the worlds first ever rc car water skip on a pool. So Carter put a landing ramp in the pool so it can drive out of the pool if it makes it all the way across the swimming pool. Carter put the car down and gave it a try. He gave the car max throttle and the remote control car took off. It splashed into the water and started to drive on the water. It was water skipping and running on water. The rc car made it all the way across the pool and came out on the other side of the swimming pool. It was so amazing to see this rc truck ride on water like that. It was driving on the water in the pool and I couldn’t believe it. Comment #RCcar if you loved this vlog. 😊 This channel is family-friendly and kid-friendly, so everyone can join in on the fun! Why can't we see the Apollo lunar landers on the Moon from Earth ?

06:32
When you look up at a full moon, just remember that somewhere on the lunar face, the remains of Apollo 11, 12, 14, 15, 16 and 17 along with 8 unmanned Russian Luna missions and 5 pre-Apollo unmanned American Surveyor missions are all still there….. silently looking back….. unless of course, you’re a NASA non-believer. Patreon : https://www.patreon.com/curiousdroid Paypal.me : https://www.paypal.me/curiousdroid You can now translate this and other curious droid videos, see my video about it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xLPVgIytKyg so… why can’t we see these from the earth, why can’t we train our best telescopes on to the moon’s surface and see them there exactly where we left them the best part of 50 years ago. Well, there a bit of a problem…. and that is that the moon is 384,000 kilometres or 238,000 miles away and the landers and all the other things left behind are just few meters across. To give you an Idea how difficult a problems that it is….. it’s like looking for an object the size of a coin from 1000 miles away or the equivalent from New York to Florida…. so you going to need a pretty serious telescope. One telescope that springs to mind is the Hubble space telescope, after all if it can see galaxy’s billons of light years away then it should be able to see the Apollo landers easily…. shouldn’t it ?? Well, as with many things to do with space it’s not that simple. Yes, the Hubble space telescope was indeed designed to look at very faint objects at astronomical distances but those objects are clusters of galaxy’s trillions of millions across, it was not designed the take high resolution images of small objects at fairly close ranges in astronomical terms like to the moon. The problem is down to the resolution of the images that the telescope can produce and that is limited by the laws of physics. The resolution determines the size the smallest Picture Element is or pixel in the image. The higher the resolution more of the fine detail in an image can be seen. In a telescope, the bigger the mirror, the more the magnification, so the closer the object will appear but at the very large magnifications the image is also affected by the wavelength of the light itself. The shorter the wavelength like ultraviolet light, the finer the detail that can be captured and the resolution increases but in visible light as we go from blue through green to red, the wavelength increases and the resolution is decreased. The Hubble has a mirror which is 2.4 meters in diameter, that was the largest that could fit in to the Space Shuttle when it was placed in to orbit. This gives it a single pixel resolution in ultra violet light of about 43 meters across on the moon’s surface, anything smaller than 43 meters across will just be hidden in a single dot which cannot be resolved any further, in fact we need really 2 pixels or more to make out anything at all...... Mind Blowing! ...Earth Compared To The Rest Of The Universe - Amazing Graphic Presentation

Check out more awesome BuzzFeedBlue videos! - http://bit.ly/YTbuzzfeedblue1 ... Music: Doggy (Spacey Pooch Mix) by Dhruva Aliman - https://dhruvaaliman.bandcamp.com/album/the-wolf-and-the-river http://www.dhruvaaliman.com/ - Spotify - https://open.spotify.com/artist/5XiFCr9iBKE6Cupltgnlet - “There are more stars in our Universe than there are grains of sand on all the beaches on Earth.” There are 100 to 400 billion stars in the Milky Way and more than 100 billion galaxies in the Universe – maybe as many as 500 billion. If you multiply stars by galaxies, at the low end, you get 10 billion billion stars, or 10 sextillion stars in the Universe – a 1 followed by 22 zeros. At the high end, it’s 200 sextillion. These are mind bogglingly huge numbers. How do they compare to the number of grains of sand on the collective beaches of an entire planet? This type of sand measures about a half millimeter across. You could put 20 grains of sand packed in side-by-side to make a centimeter. 8000 grains in one cubic centimeter. If you took 10 sextillion grains of sand, put them into a ball, it would have a radius of 10.6 kilometers. And for the high end of our estimate, 200 sextillion, it would be 72 kilometers across. If we had a sphere bigger than the Earth, it would be an easy answer, but no such luck. This might be close. So, is there that much sand on all the beaches, everywhere, on this planet? You’d need to estimate the average volume of a sandy beach and the average amount of the world’s coastlines which are beaches. The estimates and calculations made by Dr. Jason Marshall, aka, the Math Dude are that, there about 700 trillion cubic meters of beach of Earth, and that works out to around 5 sextillion grains of sand.
