South Africa's Illegal Gold Mines

10:37
In the 1970s, South Africa was the world's most prolific exporter of gold. Over the years, industrial decline has seen widespread closures of the mines across the country. However, Johannesburg sits on the biggest gold basin ever discovered. It's perhaps not surprising that many of these abandoned mines have seen a recent boom in illegal mining activity. Everyday, hundreds of illegal gold miners, known as Zama Zamas, descend kilometers deep beneath the surface. The miners often spend weeks underground, toiling away at the country's untapped gold reserves. Observers have suggested that illegal mining is now so widespread, black-market gold arguably supports the communities once subsistent on the very same mines they worked in before they shut down. The lack of policing in the mines has seen the practice go on largely unabated. However, in the absence of law enforcement, the extensive network of abandoned mines beneath the region has become an arena to deadly gang warfare between rival factions. VICE News visited illegal mines near Johannesburg, to meet the Zama Zamas risking life and limb everyday in the violent struggle for South Africa's illegal gold. GOLD INDUSTRY IN SOUTH AFRICA & HISTORY OF GOLD MINING 42994

13:15
“Visions of Gold” is a short color film on “Gold! The thread from which we weave our dreams! The key to stability!” Produced by South African film maker Emil Nofal in the mid-1960s, the film opens with rows of gold bars as the narrator Joe Stewardson explains how (in1 885) itinerant prospectors George Walker, along with George Harrison, stumbled on surface outcrops of gold-rich conglomerate on an old farm near the Witwatersrand basin —land that is now near the center of Johannesburg. (Both men quickly sold their claims for the equivalent of a few hundred dollars. Today, the gold fields in the region are worth billions.) From across the world, prospectors descended on South Africa in search of gold, as we see throngs of prospectors and opportunists starting at mark 02:45. Spurred on by visions of wealth, the fortune hunters eventually thought they had taken all the gold that was there, we are told. But at mark 06:10, Stewardson explains that more inventive prospectors at the turn of the 20th century found ways to dig deeper into the Earth in search of gold. The worldwide economic depression of the 1930s, we learn at mark 07:00, unraveled the fabric of prosperity. “The spinners of dreams all over the world now wore the dark cloth of despair.” Only the fantasy of gold remained, with South African workers eventually mining more than two miles into the ground in search of gold, as the camera plummets down a mine shaft. By mark 09:20, we see men maneuvering through tunnels and drilling into the Earth in search of deposits, and later watch as men turn the fruits of those labors into glistening gold bars. We encourage viewers to add comments and, especially, to provide additional information about our videos by adding a comment! See something interesting? Tell people what it is and what they can see by writing something for example like: "01:00:12:00 -- President Roosevelt is seen meeting with Winston Churchill at the Quebec Conference." New Evidence That Photosynthesis May Have Existed More Than 2.15 Billion Years Ago

00:42
From deep in the gold mines of South Africa’s Orange Free State has come evidence that there was some form of biologic activity on Earth at least 2.15 billion years ago. Polymerized hydrocarbon “chemo-fossils” found in the gold ores … [probably] were originally part of a rich bacterial and algal life in the Witwatersrand basin. Since the rock layers from which they come have been dated to about 2.15 billion years ago, it seems likely that photosynthesis existed on Earth before then. — Science News, March 18, 1967 UPDATE Scientists still debate when early photosynthesizing organisms called cyanobacteria began pumping oxygen into Earth’s atmosphere. Recent evidence suggests the microbes existed some 3.2 billion years ago (SN Online: 9/8/15), even though a larger oxygen surge didn’t happen until about 2.4 billion years ago (SN: 3/4/17 p. 9). Those tiny bacteria left an outsized impact on our planet, releasing extra oxygen into the atmosphere that paved the way for complex multicellular life like plants and animals. https://www.sciencenews.org/article/origin-photosynthesis-may-go-further-back-estimates-50-years-ago http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by YT Wochit News using http://wochit.com

Lost City in South Africa Discovered Hiding Beneath Thick Vegetation

Lost City in South Africa Discovered Hiding Beneath Thick Vegetation: https://www.livescience.com/64694-lost-african-city-lidar.html. Thanks for watching, subscribe for more videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCc9bLilE5EXf2G2VLVFbkCg?sub_confirmation=1 Billions of laser scans have revealed a lost city that was once a bustling epicenter in what is now South Africa's Suikerbosrand Nature Reserve, new research finds. The newly discovered city, called Kweneng, was once a thriving capital that existed from the 1400s until it was destroyed and abandoned, likely because of civil wars, in the 1820s, said Karim Sadr, a professor of archaeology at the University of the Witwatersrand, in South Africa. However, it's not clear if this conflict immediately sounded the city's death knell. That's because some of the remaining structures date to between 1825 and 1875, "in what we call the terminal phase" of Kweneng, Sadr told Live Science. [Photos: Ancient Rock Art of Southern Africa] Researchers have known about Kweneng since at least the 1960s, but they didn't realize its actual size until now, Sadr said. Revil Mason, the retired director of archaeological research at Witwatersrand University, discovered pre-colonial structures there during an aerial survey in 1968. "He spotted a number of ruins, but far fewer than are actually present," Sadr said. The city is hidden under a thick layer of vegetation, Sadr said. But in 2012, Sadr analyzed satellite images from Google Earth, and found that Kweneng had twice as many structures as previously realized. And now, with the new aerial survey using lidar — or light detection and ranging — Sadr and his colleagues discovered that "there were actually three times as many structures as Mason had initially identified," Sadr said. The vast area where the lost city, known as Kweneng, once stood. Credit: Karim Sadr For the recent survey, the researchers used a lidar machine to shoot billions of lasers at the ground. Once these lasers hit an object, be it a structure, a bird or a tree, they bounce back to the machine, which calculates the time it took to return. Ultimately, that time gives a distance, which the machine can use to create a 3D topographical map of the area. "[We're] filling a huge historical gap, especially for southern Africa, because you know pre-colonial history of southern Africa has no written record," Fern Imbali Sixwanha, a doctoral student of archaeology at the University of the Witwatersrand, told Africa News. "So, now we [are] starting to fill in the gaps using this lidar technology." The lidar results revealed a greater concentration of ancient stone-walled structures than had been suspected — about 800 to 900 compounds in all. Given that each compound could have housed a few to many families, between 5,000 and 10,000 people were likely living there during the city's peak in 1820, Sadr said. The researchers dated the structures based on their "characteristic architectural style," which are also found in other historic African cities far to the west of Kweneng, Sadr said. The researchers documented the structural remains of the lost city. It is now time that we, the people, stand up and stop these tests. The Navy and the Department of Defense have to understand that they are not allowed to go to war on us and our oceans for any reason. It is time to make our elected officials aware that we are going to stand against these policies. Take action today contact your elected officials and stop these new atmospheric tests and demand congressional hearings. Not to mention that they are breaking many aviation rules up there. Which needs documentation for action and we need to organize letters and evidence to this corrupt government. The problem is many don't want to believe that it is happening, people are too busy (the way the elites want it) with their lives to do anything, they leave it to someone else to care about and fight. It starts with you... to tell as many people what is happening, to drop notices in letterboxes, to organize groups which will lead to protests, to write to the governments and tell them these needs to be stopped. This is what takes to get somewhere. But I do see many are starting to wake up to the truth. This year chemical trails feature every day and block the sky and overcast it. Water samples from rain are found to have Barium and Aluminum Oxide in it. This is a deep mining mineral that caused minors down through the decade's lung problems leading to premature death apart from many other health problems they had. Barium also depletes the immune system. If you link the chemical spraying with the media hype on the swine flu vaccine one has to start thinking the two programs are somehow linked as a direct attack on people's lives. We are being fed false reports on the swine flu, yet so many don't even demand answers to being sprayed by Barium and also Aluminum Oxide. Is everybody brain dead or have you all forgotten how to protest, to think, to unit, to demand answers and until you do, tell them hands off no jabs at the very least you can do that for yourself and family. I do not want to make the drug company's rich or offer ourselves up for culling I don't want any of this via the air or in my arm, ask yourself if you do? Get real; put some water containers out that are 100% clean when you place it outside, after it rains, Go get it tested. Do your own research and protect yourself and your loved ones, if you care about the health of your children, It's not really funny when your kids getting sick. I have been following the weather modification debate for some years and am frustrated by the lack of answers of any kind from our government and media. This should be front line news and openly questioned by anyone who has the wits to know that all is not as it should be in our sky. But how do you fight against silence from government and media???

A bantu in my bathroom: Debating race, sexuality and other uncomfortable South African topics

11:21
Political and social analyst Eusebius McKaiser asks in his first book A bantu in my bathroom why South Africans are so uncomfortable with deep disagreement. Why do we lash out at people with opposing views without taking the time to engage logically with their arguments? McKaiser is on a mission to raise the level of debate in South Africa. He provokes us from our comfort zones and lures us into the debates that shape our opinions and our society. With surprising candour and intensely personal examples, McKaiser examines our deepest-felt prejudices and ingrained assumptions. McKaiser is a political and social analyst at the Wits Centre for Ethics. He is also a popular radio talk show host, a top international debate coach, a master of ceremonies and a public speaker of note. He loves nothing more than a good argument, having been both former National South African Debate Champion and 2011 World Masters Debate Champion. His analytical articles and columns have been widely published in South African newspapers and the New York Times. McKaiser has studied law and philosophy. He taught philosophy in South Africa and England.

Mandela - The Best Of Mandela

00:21
Mandela (18 July 1918 -- 5 December 2013) was a South African anti-apartheid revolutionary, politician, and philanthropist who served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999. He was the first black South African to hold the office, and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. His government focused on dismantling the legacy of apartheid through tackling institutionalised racism, poverty and inequality, and fostering racial reconciliation. Politically an African nationalist and democratic socialist, he served as President of the African National Congress (ANC) from 1991 to 1997. Internationally, Mandela was Secretary General of the Non-Aligned Movement from 1998 to 1999. Mandela, A Xhosa born to the Thembu royal family, Mandela attended the Fort Hare University and the University of Witwatersrand, where he studied law. Living in Johannesburg, he became involved in anti-colonial politics, joining the ANC and becoming a founding member of its Youth League. After the South African National Party came to power in 1948, he rose to prominence in the ANC's 1952 Defiance Campaign, was appointed superintendent of the organisation's Transvaal chapter and presided over the 1955 Congress of the People. Working as a lawyer, he was repeatedly arrested for seditious activities and, with the ANC leadership, was unsuccessfully prosecuted in the Treason Trial from 1956 to 1961. Although initially committed to non-violent protest, he co-founded the militant Umkhonto we Sizwe (MK) in 1961 in association with the South African Communist Party, leading a sabotage campaign against the apartheid government. In 1962 he was arrested, convicted of conspiracy to overthrow the state, and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Rivonia Trial. Mandela served over 27 years in prison, initially on Robben Island, and later in Pollsmoor Prison and Victor Verster Prison. An international campaign lobbied for his release, which was granted in 1990 amid escalating civil strife. Mandela published his autobiography and opened negotiations with President F. W. de Klerk to abolish apartheid and establish multiracial elections in 1994, in which he led the ANC to victory. As South Africa's first black president Mandela formed a Government of National Unity in an attempt to defuse racial tension. He also promulgated a new constitution and created the Truth and Reconciliation Commission to investigate past human rights abuses. Continuing the former government's liberal economic policy, his administration introduced measures to encourage land reform, combat poverty, and expand healthcare services. Internationally, he acted as mediator between Libya and the United Kingdom in the Pan Am Flight 103 bombing trial, and oversaw military intervention in Lesotho. He declined to run for a second term, and was succeeded by his deputy, Thabo Mbeki. Mandela became an elder statesman, focusing on charitable work in combating poverty and HIV/AIDS through the Nelson Mandela Foundation. Mandela was a controversial figure for much of his life. Denounced as a Marxist terrorist by critics,[1][2] he nevertheless gained international acclaim for his activism, having received more than 250 honours, including the 1993 Nobel Peace Prize, the US Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Soviet Order of Lenin and the Bharat Ratna. He is held in deep respect within South Africa, where he is often referred to by his Xhosa clan name, Madiba, or as Tata ("Father"); he is often described as "the father of the nation".

The Greedy Cave ( Gameplay / Review / Análise ) ( Android / iOS ) PT-BR

14:35
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pocketlife01 Google+: https://plus.google.com/+PocketlifeBr1 Twitter: https://twitter.com/canalpocketlife Faaala, galera! Neste vídeo apresentamos o review do RPG roguelike, The Greedy Cave, produzido pela Avalon Games. "In a land far, far away there once was a vast continent called Milton. It was a land where the power of rule came by the sword and the arcane, where Men who devoted themselves to the blade or to magecraft, could become the finest warriors, wisest wizards or the greatest adventurers. In this land, there are several kingdoms divided by borders but united through history. Countless stories of alliances, upheaval, and moments of peace bedeck this tapestry, but that is a tale for another day. Our story begins in a remote kingdom to the north, Iblis, an obscure and oft-forgotten place. It is a wild and barren land, a place where its people scrape a living from the earth, mining minerals for the lords of the south. On occasion, adventurers would stop by for the night but never linger. Until one day, a fledgling adventurer lost his way and stumbled into a hole. The story might have ended then had he not come back, but return he did, with sacks of gold and glittering treasure. Like a fierce gale from the north, news of his fame and fortune fanned across the kingdoms overnight, and kings sent their bravest warriors and adventurers to clear the cavern of monsters in search of treasure. Even peasants wanting a part of this newfound wealth partook in these expeditions. In no time at all, a bustling town had sprung up in this forgotten place. People set up camps, and formed their own groups to explore the cave. Clever merchants not missing this opportunity, built taverns and shops near the cave, selling equipment and potions to eager adventurers. At first everything seemed fine. As explorers delved into the caves, they encountered new creatures and discovered new treasures. Mysteries continued to poured forth from the cave, yet nobody knew where the source of the secrets lay. However, as the explorations continued, the balance of wealth beyond the cave began to waver, and cracks appeared among those adventurers who had previously worked arm-in-arm. The latecomers or weak, limited to wandering the upper levels of the cave, could only watch as the veteran adventurers brought treasure after treasure from the deep. They began harboring dark thoughts as they watched the veteran adventurers grow arrogant from their largesse, ordering people around, hoarding secrets from the rest. The place became a festering pool of suspicions and greed, mired in jealous rage. It started with an adventurer disappearing in the cave. Rumors circulated he had found some legendary treasure and hoarded it for himself. Others said he had been guided to another world by some mysterious magic force in the cave. Still the unspoken belief was that he had been murdered by a rival party and was buried somewhere beneath the caverns. Nobody knows exactly what happened, but people have continued to disappear ever since. As more people have gone missing, some adventurers have called it quits, others cling to hope, and a few continue to wait and see. Which brings us to you, an ordinary young man, coming into this extraordinary circumstance with purposes unknown to others. May you find what you seek in ... -------------------------------------------------------- In "The Greedy Cave", you are a brave adventurer tasked with exploring a mysterious cave and battling all kinds of monsters. Large-scale and profitable mining started with the discovery of a diamond on the banks of the Orange River in 1867 by Erasmus Jacobs and the subsequent discovery and exploitation of the Kimberley pipes a few years later. Gold rushes to Pilgrim's Rest and Barberton were precursors to the biggest discovery of all, the Main Reef/Main Reef Leader on Gerhardus Oosthuizen's farm Langlaagte, Portion C, in 1886, the Witwatersrand Gold Rush and the subsequent rapid development of the gold field there, the biggest of them all. Diamond and gold production are now well down from their peaks, though South Africa is still number 5 in gold but remains a cornucopia of mineral riches. It is the world's largest producer of chrome, manganese, platinum, vanadium and vermiculite. It is the second largest producer of ilmenite, palladium, rutile and zirconium. It is also the world's third largest coal exporter. South Africa is also a huge producer of iron ore; in 2012, it overtook India to become the world's third-biggest iron ore supplier to China, the world's largest consumers of iron ore.Due to a history of corruption and maladministration in the South African mining sector, ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe announced at the beginning of 2013 that mining companies misrepresenting their intentions could have their licences revoked.

Top 10 Most Dangerous but Spectacular Train Routes in the World-The MOST DANGEROUS and EXTREME

03:51
Top 10 Most Dangerous but Spectacular Train Routes in the World 2017-The MOST DANGEROUS and EXTREME RAILWAYS While millions of train routes run across countries throughout the world, some can be hair raising in terms of the dangerous nature of their location. 1 Argo Gede Train Railroad – Indonesia The Argo-Gede railroad runs from Jakarta to Bandung in Indonesia. It is an extremely high route that runs across the Cikurutug pylon trestle bridge that can send a shiver running down your spine. What is most eerie is the sheer huge drop deep down in the subtropical valley below. 9 Bamboo Trains, Cambodia Cambodia’s train routes were built by the French but many were subsequently destroyed by the dreaded Khmer Rouge regime. Locals then started utilizing the bamboo train routes as they called them because of using handmade carts that wee propelled across the tracks for domestic use. It was highly dangerous but today some of these carts have been fortified and used as a tourist attraction. 8 The Death Railway, Thailand Have you ever heard or seen the iconic war movie “Bridge on the River Kwai”? Well!! This is the very same track of railroad that passes through the river which featured in the film. The Death railway, as it is called, is located in Kanchanburi Province in Thailand bordering Myanmar. It was this section on which hundred of British and American POW’s died during its construction under the Japanese in WWII. The track is of course very scenic and runs through lush forest cover. 7 Aso Minami Route, Japan Would you ride a train that passes through an active volcano? Believe it or not, the Aso Minami train route passes through Japan’s most active volcanic region. Regardless of how good the system authorities cannot predict when an eruption could happen. The proof of such impending danger is well furnished in the lava burnt forest bordering the track. 6 Devil’s Nose Train, Ecuador The Nariz Del Diablo train route in Ecuador has been aptly named and translates as The Devil’s Nose. Running high up in the Andes Mountains, it can actually scare you out of your wits, because it is one of the scariest train rides in the world. Located at a very high altitude of 9000 ft, it well qualifies as one of the most dangerous train routes in the world. Thrill seekers can even experience old boxcars which cling onto to steep mountain inclines. 5 Kuranda Scenic Railroad, Australia The Kuranda Scenic railroad is breathtaking as it is dangerous. It runs through some spectacular forest surroundings which happens to be part of the Barron Gorge National Park. At, certain spots, the train passes extremely close to waterfalls which spray the entire train with water. The train route runs from cairns in Australia to kuranda which is North Queensland’s world heritage rain forest. 4 Chennai-Rameswaram Route, India This is one awesome train route which runs across a huge length of track measuring 2,065 meters. The Pamdan Railway Bridge constructed in 1914 runs upon an extremely low level cantilever sea bridge connecting South India to the island of Rameswaram part of the state of Chennai. If you happen to look out of the train windows, all you will see is just the sea and not path or road. It is a lifetime experience if you are upto to it. 3 Tren a las Nubes, Argentina It took 27 years to complete this railroad which included one of the most dangerous zigzagging spirals across mountain terrain. The Tren a las Nubes in Argentina is more of an airplane ride as it passes through clouds high up in the mountains of North central Argentina near the Chilean border. The route is so extensive that it runs through 21 tunnels and 13 equally spectacular bridges. 2 White Pass and Yukon Route, Alaska, USA The White Pass and Yukon route is a narrow gauge rail route linking Skagway in Alaska with Whitehorse Yukon. There is nothing deadlier than this railway route which practically hugs the steep cliffs it runs through. The railroad was built in 1898 during the height of the Klondike gold rush and used extensively. Today however it is only used as a tourist attraction. 1 Georgetown Loop Railroad, Colorado, USA The USA is full of narrow gauge railroads but this one in the Rocky Mountains can well be the most dangerous train routes in the world. It is located in Clear Creek County and was built to help prospectors reach the silver mines in the area. The scariest part of the railroad route is the Devil’s gate Bridge where the train needs to move as slow as possible for fear of the bridge giving way. Date taken: September 2012 Camcorder: SONY DCR SX45E Hauled by 30222 WAP- 7 of GZB shed, the 50 minutes late running 12260 New Delhi (NDLS)- Sealdah (SDAH) A.C. DURONTO Express, aka the first and the fastest Duronto of our country races past RaniGanj station on ER's ultra fast 128 kms Sitarampur- Shaktigarh quadruple line stretch, and meets the 20 minutes late running 53131 Sealdah (SDAH)- Muzaffarpur (MFP) FAST Passenger with an ASN WAG- 5 in lead. Raniganj railway station: Raniganj is a railway station on the Bardhaman-Asansol section. It is located in Bardhaman district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It lies in the heart of Raniganj Coalfield and serves Raniganj, and the surrounding mining-industrial area. "The entire belt between Durgapur (158 km from Howrah), and all the way up to Dhanbad and beyond is industrialized. Apart from factories, there are many coalmines, some closed now, and some with fires burning deep in the mineshafts. The mining area extends for a large area, mostly to the south of the tracks. Quite a portion of the track passes through cuttings, where the surrounding area is higher than the track level, resulting in the profusion of characteristic small masonry bridges crossing the tracks." This description is from "Gomoh loco shed and CLW trip record" by Samit Roychoudhury. The first passenger train in eastern India ran from Howrah to Hooghly on 15 August 1854. The track was extended to Raniganj by 1855. The Waria-Asansol sector was electrified in 1960-61. ++ Here are a few playlists: 1) http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL162D15B87064F7AA&feature=mh_lolz (12273 Howrah NDLS Duronto) 2) http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLyOcbsGHEweaZziq1fOw_h9BKQBy-8XKd&f... The minerals industry is a backbone for most of the economies in the African continent, thus, it is vital that the exploitation of the mineral resources is conducted profitably. However, without any paradigm shift in the tactics we employ to mine these resources, the mineral wealth we possess will not be of any benefit to the current and future generations. There needs to be a shift in the way we exploit the resources in order to ensure longevity of current operations and enable mining of deep-level complex orebodies in a safe, healthy and profitable manner. This can be achieved through integration of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th revolutions to create a sustainable minerals industry. https://www.saimm.co.za/saimm-events/upcoming-events/4th-young-professionals-conference

10 of the Most Dangerous Train Routes in the World 🚈🚞🚂 10 of the Most Dangerous but Spectacular Train Routes in the World Listed below are 10 of the most dangerous but spectacular train routes in the world. Argo Gede Train Railroad – Indonesia The Argo-Gede railroad runs from Jakarta to Bandung in Indonesia. It is an extremely high route that runs across the Cikurutug pylon trestle bridge that can send a shiver running down your spine. What is most eerie is the sheer huge drop deep down in the subtropical valley below. Although, tourists will be rewarded with fascinating views, the bridge itself is unfenced making it unsafe inspite of counter claims by its engineers. Accidents have occurred in the past. Among which, the last major one took place in 2002 when the train derailed but miraculously no one was hurt. Bamboo Trains, Cambodia Cambodia’s train routes were built by the French but many were subsequently destroyed by the dreaded Khmer Rouge regime. Locals then started utilizing the bamboo train routes as they called them because of using handmade carts that wee propelled across the tracks for domestic use. It was highly dangerous but today some of these carts have been fortified and used as a tourist attraction. The Death Railway, Thailand Have you ever heard or seen the iconic war movie “Bridge on the River Kwai”? Well!! This is the very same track of railroad that passes through the river which featured in the film. The Death railway, as it is called, is located in Kanchanburi Province in Thailand bordering Myanmar. The Greedy Cave - iOS Trailer

The Greedy Cave https://geo.itunes.apple.com/app/the-greedy-cave/id1028950091?mt=8&at=11ldb3 In a land far, far away there once was a vast continent called Milton. The Greedy Cave Gameplay Android / IOS

The Greedy Cave Gameplay Android / IOS In a land far, far away there once was a vast continent called Milton. Ho Mann Jahaan 2016 I Full HD Movie I Mahira Khan I Sheheryar I Adeel I Pakistani Movie | CC: Eng/Ar

02:49:58
Ho Mann Jahaan is a coming of age urban story set in present-day Karachi. The film revolves around three main characters – Arhan (Sheheryar Munawar), Manizeh (Mahira Khan) and Nadir (Adeel Husain). The story is about their friendship born out of shared experiences, passion for music and aspiration for fame. Sonya Jehan plays the role of Sabina, a powerful independent character symbolizing strength and wisdom. The film is a reflection of the current dichotomy that exists in our society where we talk of free will but readily accept conformity. Parents impose restrictions and dictate terms, because they love their children but at times don't understand them. This is a film of many layers, connecting to both younger as well as the older generation. Directed by : Asim Raza Produced by : Sheheryar Munawar And Asim Raza Written by : Yasir Hussain Music by : Zebunissa Bangash, Atif Aslam And Faakhir Mehmood Cast : Mahira Khan, Adeel Hussain, Sheheryar Munawar, Sonya Jehan, Bushra Ansari, Arshad Mahmud, Nimra Bucha , Jamal Shah, Ahmed Ali Akbar Subtitles/CC: English & Arabic

Thorium.

06:27:00
http://ThoriumRemix.com/ Thorium is an abundant material which can be transformed into massive quantities of energy. To do so efficiently requires a very different nuclear reactor than the kind we use today- Not one that uses solid fuel rods, but a reactor in which the fuel is kept in a liquid state. Not one that uses pressurized water as a coolant, but a reactor that uses chemically stable molten salts. Such a reactor is called a "Molten Salt Reactor". Many different configurations are possible. Some of these configurations can harness Thorium very efficiently. This video explores the attributes of Molten Salt Reactors. Why are they compelling? And why do many people (including myself) see them as the only economical way of fully harnessing ALL our nuclear fuels... including Thorium. This video has been under development since 2012. I hope it conveys to you why I personally find Molten Salt Reactors so compelling, as do the many volunteers and supporters who helped create it. Much of the footage was shot by volunteers. How to survive as a woman miner

07:40
Female miners are still subjected to discrimination, sexual abuse and violence in the workplace. We spoke to some women about their experiences. Clarification: The sexual harassment that one interviewee, Marinda Bekker, discusses in the video happened in the 1990s when she was working for Sasol. This is to clarify that it did not happen during her time at AngloAmerican, which is her current employer.
