Full journey on board ZDM5 52181 Dholpur Tantpur Narrow Gauge Passenger in Rajasthan. Annotation on lower left. ZDM5 DHO 518. Dholpur or Dhaulpur, a district HQ in Rajasthan was formerly seat of the Dholpur princely state. Dholpur is midway between Agra and Gwalior, 55 km from each. Dholpur became a separate district in 1982 comprising four tehsils of Bharatpur - Dholpur, Rajakhera, Bari and Baseri. Connects Dholpur and Tantpur, covers 59 km and stops at Nurpura, Garhi Sandra, Soorothee, Bari, Mohari, Baseri and Bagthar. Belongs to North Central Railway. North Central Railway will convert the Dholpur Sirmuttra narrow gauge to broad gauge, and will be extended to Gangapur city to connect Dholpur with Delhi-Mumbai route. http://www.deccanherald.com/content/343901/requiem-agra039s-british-era-train.html The 110 year old Dholpur-Bari Light Railway, DBLR is a 2' 6" narrow gauge line, previously owned and managed by the Dholpur Durbar. The line ran from Dholpur, and its carriages are longer than Indian (narrow gauge) standard, having been built in Dholpur by the railway and still bearing proudly polished Dholpur-Bari, or Dholpur State or even Central Railway builder's plates. Behind windows that are half sunshade and half glass, the slat seats and solid luggage racks of these cars were arranged in open compartments. Such carriages provided half the distinctive Dholpur look of the train. Bari is the chief town on the line, and the place where all the trains wait for some time. Here one could take tea, watch the small, creaking wooden ferries wheel in the park alongside. In 1950, the DBLR was nationalized and in 1951 merged with others to form Central Railway zone of Indian Railways. Presently under North Central Railway.
