Circuit Diagram link: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1GlGFzYCQtRL_fXAJZsVxjlFKPOXFaiLz Project Detail: Optical to Digital Encoder is one of application of sequential circuits .It consists of 8-bit ripple counter, LED’s, magnitude comparator, another four bit ripple counter followed by 7-segment display. The main purpose of Optical Encoder is that it takes input from any sensor or module that generates signal and this signal act as input for our sequential circuit. On every negative edge of signal(clock) ,our circuit updates 1 bit binary and in the same way it goes upto decimal equivalent of 255,after this it automatically reset and again start counting from Zero. In this circuit two 4-bit Magnitude comparator are also used that helps in for setting desired number of counting. When first counter reached to desired value then the magnitude comparator generates signal which resets the counter 1 and act as clock for counter two and update the counter two to +1.The final stage of circuit is conversion of binary to corresponding BCD followed by 7 segment Display. This is a project based on digital logic which will protect any system by storing binary information. This project can be compared to a password protected system which will take binary information as an input and will compare it with the saved information in the system. If these two matches the system will be able to recognize the permitted user. Required components: 4 bit parallel adder || IC-74283 2 pieces AND gate || IC-7408 3 pieces NOT gate || IC-7404 2 pieces XOR gate || IC-7486 1 piece Voltage regulator(5V) || IC-7805 Indicator LED Red(4 pieces), Green(6 pieces), Yellow(4 pieces) Connecting cables As required Operation : Suppose we've saved 1010 as our password. Then we've to connect the save portion according to this combination. The saved password will be shown by the LEDs. Now the user will give an input. Let, the user has given an input of 1001-which will also be indicated by the LEDs. Now the circuital combination will create the 2's compliment of 1001 (i.e. 0111). Then according to the operation of the adder IC, 0111 will be added with our saved combination 1010 which will result in 0001 and carry 1. This output will be fed into the next adder IC. The final output will be 0001. Now according to the connection of our LEDs, the green LED as well as one red LED will illuminate. The green LED may indicate that the input is matched, but if any of the red LEDs illuminate, we'll realize that the input is not correct. Illumination of the green LED solely will indicate the matching. Now let, user has given input of 1010. Now the circuital combination will create the 2's compliment of 1010 (i.e. 0110). Then according to the operation of the adder IC, 0110 will be added with our saved combination 1010 which will result in 0000 and carry 1. This output will be fed into the next adder IC. The final output will be 0000. Now according to the connection of our LEDs, the green LED will illuminate only. Now we can realize that the input is matched.

The resistance of LDR decreases when the intensity of light falling on it increases or decreases . In dark or absence of light, the LDR exhibits a resistance in the range of mega-ohms, which decrease to a few hundred ohms in presence of bright light. In this system, the amount of light falling on LDR decreases as a person crosses the entrance and his shadow falls on LDR. Consequently, the resistance of LDR increases to provide a clock pulse to a pin of IC through transistor. During this time, LED stops glowing momentarily, indicating that someone is entering the hall and increases the counter by 1.

So an RGB LED is connected to a 74hc14 IC known as the Hex Inverting Schmitt Trigger, commonly used as wave/pulse shapers and multivibrators. There are a total of 6 inputs each with an output. As the RBG LED has three colors, we would be using only 3 of them. The circuit is designed in such a way that the input level changes automatically which results in random output in all the three pins, thus producing different colors (a variety of colors can be produced by mixing the three primary ones through an RGB LED). You may want to see the pin configuration of the IC which is given above. Pin 7 is always connected to Gnd while 14 is connected to Vcc. Carefully make all the connections according to the layout. Power the circuit and you'll see the LED displaying random colors. You may also try experimenting with different resistor/capacitor values and notice the change. You may fail sometimes, but never stop tinkering. (Note that I used two 10uF capacitors connected to pin 5 instead of one 22uF due to unavailability. They are connected in parallel, so final value is the sum of both.) I has to be checked whether you are using a common anode or a common cathode LED. The above circuit is only for common cathode. For the anode type, just connect the common terminal to Vcc and R,G,B terminals to their respective output pins.
